Job Description:
Responsible for the origination, processing and servicing of a wide variety of government guaranteed loans such as SBA, Safe Bidco or BIA. Ensures the highest return on loans sold to the secondary market.
Interviews applicants to develop information concerning their business, needs, desires, abilities, and earnings to determine if a loan may be an acceptable risk. Visits plants or company sites as required.
Reviews and recommends objectives and procedures to ensure compliance with Bank and the government guaranteeing agency as they relate to lending activities. Decides terms of loans within established lending limits, or makes recommendations on significant loans to supervisor or loan committee.
Reconciles and balances negotiable items. Audits loans.
Follows up on current loans to ensure compliance with internal/external procedures and other required terms. Makes appropriate recommendations on financial and organizational structure, locations, and other matters. Implements marketing and advertising programs to ensure market awareness of the product and services available to the branches/community.
Calls on potential or existing customers to develop new business and increase or retain existing business. Works closely with local Community Development Corporations (AEDC, RREDC) and local Small Business Development Centers (SBDC).
Actively learns, demonstrates and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words.

Govt Guaranteed Lending Business Development Officer I:
Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
Requires a Bachelors degree or equivalent and prior commercial and/or consumer lending experience, strong credit and analytical skills and knowledge of bank products and services.
Ability to demonstrate compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and apply to designated job responsibilities knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Must be able to keep up to date on regulation changes. Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required, annual required, or job-specific training.
